  • Filched from Kenders and others...

To demonstrate that I am using half day wisely :>>

Do you eat a lot of fast food?
I cook pretty quickly sometimes - does that count?

How many people have you kissed in 2008?
In a smoochy way - just LBF, of course :)

Were you happy when you woke up on Sunday?
Very happy - we were going to Suffolk for DAY OUT, so I was v excited...

    How about now?
    Pretty much :D

    Have you ever streaked?
Not in big public... I quite often run nakedly from bed to shower/toilet in shared accommodation situations, but mostly manage to avoid other peoples...

    Are you an understanding person?

Am desperately unsympathetic about illness though...

    In Bruges - aaaages ago....

What did you last get upset about?

No - though take horrible lucozade tablets if my blood sugar gets too low XX(

Does it make you happy to get letters?
    Sooooooo very happy :D
    All post makes me happy!

Who was the last person to text you?
Opera friend, I think - must remember to reply.

What are you looking forward to this summer?
Sailing and lying around in Suffolk.

    Ugh- no

Who was the last person you took a picture of?
    Probably LBF.

    I used to.
    Am not allowed now ;'(

    Have you ever felt replaced?
Perhaps, though not so recently that it's all fresh in my mind.

Are there deerheads covering any walls in your house?
No. There's a beautiful wooden moose flat-sculpture thing at a pub down the road from here though, which I would really like as coat rack.
Might add to birthday wish-list :)

Have you ever been asked out?
    Not by anyone who wasn't:
    a) Crazy
    b) Weird bus stranger
    c) A stalker

That's a bit sad, isn't it... I must be deeply unattractive...

Are you good at telling jokes?
No, but I don't let it get in my way ;)

Have you ever driven without a license?
No, though mine expires at the end of the year.

Do you wish you had smaller feet?
    A little bit, sometimes.
Am 6, which is Little Miss Average, so sale shoes always already run out when I get to them.

Where did you last sleep besides your own bed?
    Bed in Suffolk...

  • At Home...

    I'm having a lovely half day :)

    I'm at home now...

Is officially because I have audition (nothing v exciting...) tonight and I don't want to be running there from work in a big scramble...

Is not till 7.40 though, so will probably run through pieces now (might have to throw LBF out for half hour or so) and then warm up a bit later, but otherwise, the afternoon is my own, to use however I want! Realistically, of course, this probably means hanging out the washing, sweeping the floor etc, but it still feels quite like a holiday :)

Hope everyone else is having nice day!

  • V big fun...

We ordered a new cat tree for the kittehs a few days ago and it arrived (in two enormous boxes yesterday...

It was supposed to be for their birthday (not sure exactly, but official birthday - like the Queen, y'know? - is on 10th August) but there was a splendiferous ZooPlus sale last week (v v good value), so we had to bring it forward a bit...

    15017_1

and takes up approximately the entire flat ;)

    Pictures to follow!

Ooh - and I made a really great birthday cake for my sister...

Boris Godunov is not straightforward :(

Should have started learning before now!

    Bad Jennie...

    Bad

  • Sleepytime...

    ...for Jennies...

Had good first rehearsal, but bit concerned that I've not learned the scene for the one tomorrow yet - will have to press iPod into some serious service - if I listen to it over and over again, some of it's bound to sink in, right ;) ?

    Sleeps now...

    Good night everyone :zz:

  • What do I really need?

This is a very important question right now, as the Frog of Destiny hops splodgily along the Garden Path of Time...

I know that LBF is looking for suggestions for lovely birthday presents for meeeeeeee - the question is, though, given that he probably won't actually get me a Limited-Edition-Lego-Imperial-Star-Destroyer or a new bin (my suggestions to date), what should I recommend?

    Any ideas?

EDIT - Ooh - I may have found it ;)

  • Small but quite annoying thing...

    When did people start saying:

    I could care less

    instead of

    I couldn't care less

    ?????????

How does this even make sense?

I've heard it quite a lot of times and just assumed that the people saying it were idiots, but now I've just read it in an article (albeit an online one) in a respectable broadsheet!

    What's going on?????

  • Jacobite, where are you?

    JAcobite has disappeared :'(

He was here earlier this morning...

  • Today...

... I had gooseberries for breakfast with my porridge.

    They were tasty :P

  • Oh dear...

This advert was on my work bulletin board today - sad, no?

    :DD

  • The very embodiment of virtue

    I am I am I am I am :)

I've only had one can of Diet Coke today!

    Is practically a record...

Will be decaffeinated in no time :>>

  • Busy day...

Many many things to do today - v few of them actually useful :(

Am still covering daily work pending arrival of lovely new boy (must chase manager/HR about that - hope he still wants to work here!) which is pretty solid (bar odd 5 mins of blogness) from 8.30 to 12.30 (if I get through it quick-fast and then have back to back meetings from 12.30 till 4 (none of which I have time to prepare for) by which time I shall, most likely, be on my knees... Crying!

Have just realised that this also probably means I won't be allowed to have lunch today :'(
And I brought tasty berries with me, too...

    Meh!

Ooh - on the bright side though, my handy frog tells me that there are a mere 19 days until my birthday :D
    V cheering!

  • Man......

I really need to have a bath and go to bed (not to mention translate a scene for my first rehearsal on Thursday...), but have got totally caught up watching Mad Hot Ballroom and am stuck now...

Think will have to get dvd and watch end another day :/

  • I has...

    ... a new dwess :)

Actually - two new dwesses - one is red and one is blue and both are v summery and were extremely cheap! Am v pleased - feel quite festive now...

Might celebrate by making soup

  • Enough...

...is what I have had today...

I have a cold (probably) and am all snuffly, which is making me miserable.
Have countered this with decongestants, which make inability to breathe manageable enough to continue with normal existence, but are making me feel dizzy and crappy as side effect (I usually choose to ignore the part on the back which says that you shouldn't take them if you're diabetic, but possibly this is unwise).

I have also overdosed on chewing gum.

I wish today would be gone now - I don't like it anymore :`(

  • Blackness Meme - from Chyna, Landers and many more...

    1. Who's the black sheep in your family?
Not sure we really have one...
When I was little, I used to hope that I might have been some kind of fairy changeling, though - but I guess everyone had that ;)
We have a black kitteh - does that count?
    shadow

    2. Do you take your coffee black?
    Dont like coffee...
I take my diet coke black though - as black as sin :)

    3. Do you own a Blackberry?
Nope - but my phone does lots of similarly clever things...
I had some real blackberries the other day - from a brambly hedge - they were gooooood :P

    4. Which black forest would you rather eat - cake or ham?
    Hmmm...
Not a massive fan of black forest gateau, but really really don't like ham - ugh
Guess it'll have to be the cake!

    5. Have you ever had a black eye?
I woke up with a really bad one once - took days to subside...
Don't think anyone had hit me though (unless was while I was sleepin') - think I just must have got something in it in the night or something...

  • Duckies...

I meant to blog this a couple of weeks ago...

I think is utterly splendid idea and that everyone should go ahead and purchase lovely duck now :)

If only so that I can beat you all with my superior ducks ;)

EDIT Am actually thinking that I might go along on the day - looks like it might be pretty fun, so in addition to purchasing ducks, I demand that you all come with me!
Will be like lovely duck-themed day out - there will be picnic :P

  • I want this!

    Isn't it beautiful?

    And so very handy ;)

  • Strangeness...

You know when you put your hands in the water for too long they go all wrinkled and washerwomany?

Well my lips feel a bit like that today - weird, no?

    Surely lips should be waterproof?

  • So....

...the cranachan pie tastes awesome :)

Even after eating enough BBQ to sink a small ship!

  • Pie Success!

    Thankyou for all suggestions :)

Here are the Soy/Jacobite apple/strawberry pies (they look better in real life - should probably photograph with real camera instead of phone - think it might even have food setting):

    Pies

You two definitely win the pie prizes

And here is the cranachan pie, as demanded by LBF and his brother...
Is basically a raspberry cream/custard pie, enhanced with toasted oats, honey and whisky (16 y/o Highland Park - we don't really have any cooking whisky ;) ), to be eaten with whisky cream. Sounds revolting, but looks beautiful - am hoping will be tasty!

    Pie

Now am making enough bbq food to feed small army....
Even though only 4 extra people are coming to eat it :-/

  • V Important Question For All Bloggers....

    What is the best pie?

Sweet pie only for today - savoury pies are a separate question...

Am making a pie for tomorrow - I did a really good rhubarb cream pie a few weeks ago and LBF favours apple pie...

Am also considering a tarte tatin or some kind...

All suggestions welcome - am mixing pastry now, but will probably make final pie decision tomorrow!

Pie-themed prizes available for tastiest pie suggestion!

  • Goodnight BlogPeople!

Past Jennie's bedtime again, so better hurry off to sleep!

Wishing you all dreams of butterscotch and kittens x

  • Lazy blogging

So I was going to post this for Nick (a bit more ROCK than the last one), but, of course, he's off sunning himself and drinking frozen margeritas...

I quite like it though - more complex than your average graph-jam - so am posting anyway...

Lazy bloggage I know, but probably more interesting than me musing on what I'm going to eat next, which seems to be mostly all I do now ;)

  • Today is Thursday...

... and I am at work - again...

I have had tasty lunchstrawberries - again...

And nothing else has happened in my life (or viewing sphere) - again

Don't get me wrong - today is going fine and I'm perfectly happy, I just don't really have anything to say :|

And about the only thing that is keeping me even remotely interested is deciding what we should cook/eat tonight when I get home...
For anyone who might be interested - though I appreciate this may be more gripping for me than for anyone else - I'm currently thinking of falafel burgers with rice and pitta breads (if I can be bothered to make them) and perhaps some tasty broccoli and/or salad
See what I am reduced to?
    See???

  • So much for leaving early....

    Am still here

  • My favourite song :)

  • Strawberries....

    .... are very very tasty!

I just ate a whole big enormous punnet of them for my lunch :P

Now I am full and happy and have red sticky fingers (and desk and keyboard - ooh and printouts of the work I've done this morning...)

Today, I have been mostly working.

It is quite boring (probably more for anyone else than for me, and it's not that exciting even from where I'm sitting), so I shan't blog about it for fear of turning potential readers to stone...

Having had such a lovely long evening last night, I shall be trying to leave early again today - have many lovely DVDs to catch up on, apart from anything else...

Hope everyone else is having nice day.

    Sorry for being boring

  • Tonight....

... I have been eating tasty tofu based stirfry followed by rhubarb and strawberries :)

I left work early (or, at least, by 6) so that I could get some lovely LBF time - was really nice - should leave at decent time more often :)

He's just going out now, so I can have some quality kitten, song-learning and possibly Wii Fit (which I've been shamefully neglecting recently) time.
    Or possibly go to bed...
    Definitely something like that

Hope everyone else is having nice evening!

  • For my LBF...

... because I just know that this is how he thinks of me ;)

  • Bah!

No less than four (that's right - FOUR vending machines in this STUPID building have just eaten my money!!!

    >:-[>:-[>:-[>:-[
    :##

All I wanted was a tasty yogurt for my lunch...

Am too fed up (and also don't have time) to go and get any real food from the outside now, so am just going to fortify myself with diet coke, sugar myself where necessary with ribena and hope that I don't starve to death before I get my (hopefully v tasty) ostrich steak this evening...

    Bah!

  • So....

...open air theatre was absolutely fantastic!

Can highly recommend to everyone :)

We had fantastic (even if I do say so myself ;) ) champagne picnic first and then theatre, which was really good!

The production was lovely (and funny) - even LBF got really into it after the first 10 minutes or so, and he wasn't necessarily that keen on the whole idea - and the setting was absolutely beautiful.

Very clever use of natural resources - it gradually got darker throughout the evening, and then, right at the end, it suddenly seemed to get properly dark and the stage lighting was really pretty...

Am quite tempted to go back for the Dream in a coupe of weeks time!

Sleepy now - bed for me, I think!

Hope everyone else has had a nice day :)

  • Saturday...

.... and today I have been mostly making picnic food...

Because later on, LBF and I are going to the open air theatre in Regents Park :)

Am very excited - should be totally fun and the forecast is even pretty good, so am looking forward to good time...
Actually - that's the reason this is friends only - LBF doesn't know yet!

It's Twelfth Night, which should be good hopefully, and funny enough to hold LBF's attention too - the tickets we've got are decent (though not actually in my possession - they were supposed to email them, but they've not arrived -hopefully I can pick them up on the door, they seemed to think that might work), I've made chargrilled vegetable and balsamic salad, minted beans and courgettes, mango chicken and a tasty focaccia and purchased champagne and tasty strawberries...
Am thinking about getting gu mini-puds too, or perhaps making chocolate mousses - not sure which is best...

Not sure I have sufficient tupperware ;)

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend!!

  • Badness...

I kind of want this for my kitties...

    Am I a bad person?

  • Today....

... for lunch, I had a mango and duck salad from Pret.
    And a yogurt!

It was good - it tasted totally unhealthy :)

Very soon it will be the weekend.

    HURRAH

  • It's a shiny new day!!!

And also a Friday, and a really nice one at that :)

I have to do some training now (which is good - if I train someone else to do my bits, I'll be allowed to have holidays and everything!!)

AND we're having fabulous steaks tonight!

Hope everyone else has a lovely day!

  • I am sleeeeeeeepy....

    Oh yes I am!

  • Today....

.... I has been mostly workin'...

And I plan to do more of the above for the next 4 or 5 hours...

Am looking forward to this evening though - Organic Vegetable Man brought us some lovely shiny looking mackerel (not strictly vegetabular, I know) on Monday and I've been looking forward to nomming them ever since...
    Tonight is the night :)

Of course, the proper way to cook mackerel is undoubtedly on the barbecue, but I'm not sure that I can really justify firing it up just for two little fishies...
Guess I could do some tasty vegetables as well (OVM also brought aubergines, which BBQ pretty nicely, and almost certainly lots of other delectable things too), but still think it might be a wee bit wasteful...

    Any other mackerelicious ideas anyone?

Don't want to be too unhealthy though, as I know we are having giant steaks tomorrow :>>

Better go do some more workses now - someone is on holiday, and, pending appointment of lovely new minion, I'm still doing two jobs anyway, so there's big big lots to do!

Hope everyone else is having nice day :)

  • Interview

So interviewee seemed really good (though I guess you can't always really tell)...

AND he's called Godfrey, which, in my view, is a bonus!

I do hope it all works out ok...

  • Wednesday...

Hard to believe is only Wednesday today...

This week seems to have taken ages already!

We're interviewing someone for a position on my team today - I hope we get someone soon - I haven't done any real work for weeks now and it's all starting to pile up a bit.

We're down to only one extra person in the flat now, too, which is better.
He's very nice and mostly not there when I am anyway, but I'm still starting to get to the stage where I wish it was just us again - I think I must just be an antisocial bitch ;)

Hope everyone is having fun - I'd best go do some works now...

  • Tonight....

.... I have made and eaten (with the help of LBF and his temporarily live-in friend) a moderately tasty prawn curry, sung some songs (some old ones and some new), mixed up bread dough and made tomato sauce for pizza for tomorrow, had bath and made stock from quail bones...

Now am thinking about going to bed...

Anything more exciting happening to anyone else?

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIRA!

    Happy birthday to youuuuu,

    Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuuu,

    Happy birthday dear Meeeeerrrraaaaaaaa,

    Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!

    Hope you have fun!

  • Back to Work...

I am back at work today after a weekend of lovely no-workiness...

Am doing ok so far, but it's so beautiful and sunny outside, that I'm starting to resent it a little bit ;)

Hopefully niceness of weather will last till hometime and I can reap some benefits on the way home...

I don't really have anything else to say - the work environment is not providing any inspiration today.

Hope everyone else is having nice day :)

  • Weekend - day 2

Today I have been in Suffolk...

Helped parents and grandparents to put up a tent (a pretty big one...), sailed up the river and back in light winds and glorious sunshine, took dinghy out of water, had (utterly splendid) cold seafood platter (tastiest pub meal evah!) from village pub and then came home...

    Was totally great :)

Hope weather stays nice at weekends - would like to do more of same!

Hope everyone else has had good sunshine Sunday...

  • Weekend - day 1

So I had a pretty nice time last night...

I drank too many wines, especially given that I hadn't had time for lunch and was v tired, and then had a tasty new tomato flavoured pizza from Pizza Express...
I felt grim when I got home but am fine today, which is nice :)

Was totally nice to see old work friends - is kind of sad that I don't see them more often, but I guess that's hazard of moving on to new things - and also of being a semi-hermit ;)

LBF is off on his hen stag day/night now, having had a pretty civilised warm up night last night, so I'm all alone with the kitties.
    Is nice :)

Have to go out for dinner (again) tonight, but will have to decide what to do with myself until then...
    Any suggestions?
Otherwise I'm likely to resort to baking ;)

Hope you're all having a nice weekend!

  • Tagged by Chyna and Soy (see how popular I am!)

or possibly just how I appear to have lots of time at work ;)

    The Rules:
Each player answers the questions about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5-6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.

    1. What I was doing 10 years ago:
I guess I was nearly 19 and had just finished my first year at University...
Possibly was embroiled in splitting up with first boyfriend (can't actually remember when this happened) and was almost certainly doing holiday job working for accountant (first accountancy experience - you'd think it should have been enough to put me off, really...)
It was a small (v v small - only 2.5 people and me) practice run by a Greek Cypriot guy with mostly Greek clients - the only reason he interviewed/took me on was because my CV said I had a Greek A level, which I do, but is Ancient Greek and hence not much use in the Real World...

    2. What 5 things are on on my to-do list for today (not in any particular order):
    - Eat cookie
    - Do lots of work so I can leave early (or, at the very least, by 6)
    - Leave work early
    - Go out with old-work friends and have small fun
    - Not spend too many monies

    3. Snacks I enjoy:

Berries - and plenty of 'em!

    4. Things I would do if I was a billionaire:

    Pay off mortgage
    Give cool presents to family/friends
Retire and become opera singer in the manner of Florence Foster Jenkins

    5. Places I have lived:
London (Camden) and Edinburgh and London (Hackney, this time) again...

    Hmmmm...
I shall tag Jembajr, Stewartacraig, Batsman, NotBob and Louisa - sorry about this guys ;)

  • Friday....

    Meh!!!

Today I came to work v much early - was in by 7.30 - to do some things that require doing by 9 in the morning...

When I got here, though, a whole load of files were not yet ready and someone had left themselves logged into another file that I needed overnight, so I couldn't do ANY of it :(

So now - not only am I splendiferously tired (not enough hours sleeps - oh no!) but people keep coming up to me asking when the stupid stuff will be ready! Muchly frustrating!

Also I am involuntarily chain-chewing gum - that can't be good for you, right?

Am supposed to go out tonight, with old work friends (friends from old work, not friends that are old - though some are oldre than me)...
Should be fun, but am worried that they'll all want to go out and eat things that are bad (or bad for Jennies at least) and then I'll have to go home :(

    This sounds really moany...
Am not really moaning - am pleased that it's the weekend :)

Hope everyone else is also having a good Friday!

  • Today

So I set my alarm for the extreme earliness that is 6.20am last night before I went to bed (as I had to be at work early today)...
I woke up at about 5.40, turned over and went back to sleep and then got up when my alarm went off at 7.20!!!!!
    Sabotage, I say!

I showered and dressed at light speed (for me) and hared out to the station, where I had to wait for 7 minutes for a stupid train!

Was only actually about 10 mins late in the end, and did manage to do everything I needed to do, but it was all a wee bit sweaty and stressful - could live without that kind of start to my day...

Missed breakfast too - thought it would be major tragedy as no time to get tasty Eat porridge on the way to work either, but happily, remembered that I have an enooooormous packet of branflakes in my desk drawer just in time, so disaster was averted :)

Have to be in early again tomorrow, so should get another go... Hopefully will do better next time!

Am just about to have a tasty lunch composed, primarily (ok - entirely) of a large volume of strawberries :)
    Is v v good - I love berries :D
    strawberries

We seem to have a million people staying in the flat this weekend...

There's a girl (a friend of LBF's) who comes to stay about once a month as she's doing some kind of course in London and we're on her places-to-stay rotation. Is all good - we have spare(ish) room to sleep in and magic chair that transforms into bed so is all pretty comfy.
She's a vegetarian, which is fine for me, but LBF finds it a bit hard to not eat meat for any time at all, let alone the 4 or 5 days she's with us...

In addition, one of our friends is getting married in July and his stag night (or perhaps nights) is this weekend in London. As such, LBF has another friend who is going to come and crash with us for the weekend and then stay on next week so that they can do some work together.
Actually, he's the brother of the other stayee, which is a weird coincidence.
He'll probably have to crash on the sofa (which is enormous, and hence a pretty nice place to sleep) which is also fine, except that our kitchen and living room is all one, so it makes breakfast fairly unlikely for me for a few days, as well as meaning that every room in the flat is full, so I have nowhere to go!

Would all be fine, except that, because of stag night/s, LBF will be out on Fri and Sat and I find the idea of entertaining someone that I don't know that well all on my own completely intimidating...
I'm also supposed to be going out for drinks tomorrow night - I wasn't going to stay out for dinner (the people I'm going with tend to want to eat Chinese, which is kind of sugary and bad, so was going to give it a miss) but think I might have to now, to void having togo back to the flat...
We'd also agreed to go out for dinner with my parents and some cousins (who are staying with them) on Sat, so I guess I can try to drag that out as well!
All I really need now is to absent myself on Sunday - am thinking I might head off to Suffolk for the day, particularly if weather is good.

Phew - that was long post...

Anyone who is still with me - hope you're having nice days!
